Harley’s Dog Sitting — Policies
These policies are in place to ensure the safety, comfort, and consistency of care for every dog in our home. By booking with Harley’s Dog Sitting, you agree to the following.
Care Environment
Harley’s Dog Sitting is an in-home, family-style dog care service located on a private vineyard in Calistoga, California. Dogs are integrated into daily household life and cared for within a structured, routine-based environment.
This is a real home with children and other dogs. Routines, boundaries, and safety practices are essential to how we operate.
Crating & Safety
Dogs are crated overnight and during meals as a standard practice.
Crates are also required for emergency preparedness, including evacuation situations where dogs must be transported quickly and safely.
Dogs must be comfortable being crated to stay with us.
Very rare exceptions may be made at our discretion, but crates should be considered a required part of care.
Supervision & Alone Time
While we are often home, we do not provide constant supervision.
Dogs must be comfortable being left alone for a minimum of two (2) hours at a time.
This allows us to maintain a healthy, low-stress environment for both dogs and humans.
Sleeping & Furniture
Dogs sleep in their crates overnight.
Dogs do not sleep in bed with us.
During the day, dogs are welcome on furniture unless otherwise requested by the owner.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Drop-off and pick-up are by appointment only.
Appointments are available daily between 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM.
Pickups or drop-offs outside these hours are not permitted.
A late fee of $15 per half hour may be applied for late pickups.
Clients are asked to text or call 15–30 minutes before arrival and again upon arrival.
Health Requirements & Vet Records
All dogs must:
- Be up to date on rabies vaccinations
- Be current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
- Wear a rabies tag on their collar
- Arrive in good general health
New clients are required to provide current veterinary records prior to their first stay.
Medications & Injections
We can administer medications, including injections, as instructed.
Clear written instructions and any required supplies must be provided prior to the stay.
What to Bring
Please bring:
- Your dog’s food
- Collar or harness and leash
- Medications (if applicable)
We provide crates, beds, bowls, and enrichment.
Please do not bring toys, as they may cause guarding or conflict between dogs.
Emergency Care & Veterinary Treatment
In the event of an emergency, we will make every effort to contact the owner immediately.
If urgent care is required and time is critical, we will transport the dog to the nearest emergency facility:
VCA PetCare East Veterinary Hospital
Santa Rosa, CA — Mendocino Avenue
By agreeing to these policies, you authorize Harley’s Dog Sitting to seek and approve necessary urgent or life-saving veterinary treatment if you cannot be reached.
All veterinary, emergency, and related costs remain the sole responsibility of the owner.
Emergency Contacts
Clients must provide:
- A veterinarian’s name, address, and phone number
- At least one emergency contact who is not traveling with the client
Emergency contacts may make medical decisions on the owner’s behalf if the owner cannot be reached.
Interactions, Mixed Groups & Injury Responsibility
Harley’s Dog Sitting is a shared, in-home environment. Dogs of varied breeds, sizes, ages, and energy levels may be present at any given time.
We do not restrict breeds.
We do not guarantee breed-specific, age-specific, or dog-specific separation.
We will not restrict or exclude dogs or breeds at the request of another client.
Owners acknowledge that dogs will interact with a mixed group as part of normal household life.
Dogs are supervised and managed thoughtfully; however, interactions between dogs carry inherent risk.
Minor injuries (including scratches, nips, or scuffles) can occur despite appropriate supervision.
Each owner remains financially responsible for injuries or medical care required for their own dog, regardless of fault.
Harley’s Dog Sitting is not responsible for injury-related costs resulting from dog-to-dog interactions unless caused by gross negligence.
We reserve the right to separate dogs, modify group dynamics, or discontinue care if a dog’s behavior presents a safety concern for the household.
